Tracking of Adult Mental Health Indicators
Currently, there is not a broad community process for continually tracking
all of the Healthy People 2010 indicators in Travis County. Although many individual
public mental health agencies and programs are tracking their own performance,
they are only snapshots of the community as a whole. It is recommended as part
of the planning process that follows this assessment, a systematic approach
to review indicators, adopt indicators, and collect appropriate data be developed
and monitored on an ongoing basis.
In addition to the Healthy People 2010 goal and objectives, the American
College of Mental Health Administration and the Accreditation Organization
Workgroup
(CARF.the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission, the Council on Accreditation
for Children and Family Services, the Council on Quality and Leadership
in Support of Persons With Disabilities, the Joint Commission on Accreditation
of Healthcare Organizations, the National Committee on Quality Assurance)
has
proposed a set of performance indicators and measures for behavioral health
(American College of Mental Health Administration, 2000). These performance
measures are provided in the following three tables to assist mental health
planning bodies in further developing performance measures for Travis County.
