Community-based medical services are provided by a number of public, private,
and community-based organizations involving a spectrum of primary, urgent,
acute, chronic, preventive, and long-term care for both physical and mental
health services. The City of Austin and Travis County provides or funds through
contract services a range of health care services. There are two major hospital
systems that provide numerous services: Seton Healthcare Network and St. David's
HealthCare Partnership. There are also private and public clinics, specialty
care facilities, and public and community-based organizations providing a variety
of health care services. Austin-Travis County area providers and service agencies
are generous in providing volunteer and low cost services to those who can
not afford them.
