Category: C.A.N. Events CalendarDate: Saturday, March 26, 2011 - 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Location: Schmidt-Jones Family Life Center (across from the First United Methodist Church in downtown Austin) on the northwest corner of 13th Street and Lavaca.
The Women’s Resource Fair is organized by a group of women members of the Austin Young Lawyers Association. It is a comprehensive, all-day event that provides a variety of free resources and services to women and children who are low-income, homeless, or victims of domestic violence. The services include FREE legal assistance, medical services, employment and educational counseling, social services, shelter referrals, mental health and spiritual counseling, and child care. We will also be serving a free breakfast and free lunch.
In its three years in existence, we have increased attendance from just over 100 women the first year to over 500 women in 2010! The event has become such a success that unfortunately, this year we will have to cap attendance at 500 women and provide services on a first-come first-served basis. Assuming the event will continue to be such a success, we aspire to move the event to a bigger location in its 5th year, so that we can provide more services to more women in need for years to come.
If you are interested in receiving free bus passes to distribute to women who may benefit from the event, please contact Laura Langham at l_langham@hotmail.com.
Thank you very much for your time and support. We are looking forward to another successful event!
