Transportation/Mobility Bond Development Committee Meeting

City staff has presented its "Needs Assessment Project and Program Report" as part of the City's bond development process. The report, presented at the Feb. 16 Bond Election Advisory Task Force meeting, includes 124 projects and programs to be considered for potential future bond packages. Project prioritization was determined by seeing how many of the City Council-approved Guiding Principles and associated criteria were met for each project or program.

The report includes four key levels of information:
1. A Needs Assessment Summary with aggregate amounts by department.
2. Project/program lists by City department.
3. A near-term Projects Summary where at least one of the four near-term criteria were applicable.
a. The project addresses a serious health, public safety or security threat(s).
b. The project addresses a serious infrastructure failure(s).
c. The project addresses a significant degradation of service(s).
d. The project addresses a legal judgment, court order, regulatory mandate or state/federal law.
4. Detailed project/program pages that provide additional information on each particular project or program.

The report is available at www.AustinTexas.gov/BondDevelopment.

To facilitate the Task Force’s deliberations, four committees have been established including: Affordable Housing, City Facilities, Parks/Open Space, and Transportation/Mobility.

The Bond Election Advisory Task Force was established by Council in October 2011 to identify and prioritize bond funding for capital projects that will advance the vision identified by the Imagine Austin comprehensive planning process.

The planning process will identify projects and programs for a potential bond election. If an election is called, Austin voters will decide whether the City should borrow money to fund specific infrastructure, facilities or other capital improvement projects or programs.
