A fascinating and entertaining look into the preschool child's perception of fire, the surprising frequency of children's misuse of fire, practical approaches to teaching young children fire safety, and introduction to the award winning play safe! be safe! kit. Refreshments will be served.
For trainers, teachers, other direct care providers, program managers, and fire & life safety educators.
All participants receive a free play safe! be safe! kit! Trainers receive additional play safe! kits for distribution, training slides, notes and resource list.
About the presenter: Dr. Cole is a nationally respected authority on fire safety education. He was the director of the research team that designed and conducted a series of major studies about children and fire, sponsored by New York State. Dr. Cole participated in the development of the play safe! be safe! preschool fire safety training program. In 1997, play safe! be safe! received the Best Curriculum Award fromEarly Childhood News, a publication of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Workshop will be held at the Region XIII Education Service Center 5701 Springdale Road, Austin, TX 78723. Check-in begins at 8:30am.
