Dear Friends,
We would like to invite you to join us at the Asian American Cultural Center,
11713 Jollyville Road to welcome the arrival of the "Year of the Yang
Water Dragon" on Saturday, January 21, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be lots of festivities including various performances
of Asian dances, music, martial arts demonstration, calligraphy and the
traditional Lunar New Year foods for our community to enjoy. Especially
for the children and the curious, there will be an arts and craft booth
for the Year of the Dragon.
The Dragon is a symbol of auspiciousness; it brings the Four Blessings
of the East: wealth, virtue, harmony and longevity. This Water Dragon
will bring growth and calmness in the coming year. Next year is also
the Year of the Yang Water Dragon, Yang Water being like a flowing river
rather than a stagnant lake. Things will move, ideas flow, creativity abound,
economies will boom, and love blossoms in this environment. It is likely
to be an exciting year indeed. This is the year to dream and dream
BIG, as befitting the Dragon.
With the challenges of the economic downturn, the need for affordable healthcare
and the strengthening our education system in order to compete globally,
let us take advantage of the energy of this auspicious year and dedicate
ourselves to work for a prosperous year and to build a better and safer
future for our children. Just like the Dragon, let us move purposefully
and with passion to realize our BIG VISION.
We are looking forward to seeing you on January 21st at our festivities.
Sincerely,
Amy Wong Mok
