Dear Austin Energy Customers,
The first City Council hearing on the Austin Energy rate increase will be held on Thursday January 12th starting at 6 p.m. The hearing is Agenda Item 101. The 6 p.m. starting time is not a guarantee. It may start later than but no earlier than 6 p.m.
The rules are:
-You must sign up to speak on computer kiosks in the lobby. Are there any volunteers out there who can hang around the kiosks to help people who have never used one before?
-You can sign up to speak until the mayor calls for a vote. That is not likely to happen on the 12th.
-You can speak for up to 3 minutes. You can also "give" your three minutes to another speaker. You must be at the hearing to do so. I encourage individuals to speak, however, Lanetta Cooper and I would be happy to have more than 3 minutes. Let me know if you would prefer to give your time to one! of us.
-You can park for free in the public lot underneath City Hall. There will be a table near the door where your parking ticket will be validated.
-If you have visuals you can give them to the computer person at the hearing.
I will be in touch with additional information. Included will be a time to have a meeting help prepare individuals for the hearing. Please let me know if you are interested in preparing for the hearing or if you would like to give your time to Lanetta or me.
