The Texas Legislature is well into its 82nd Regular Session, and committee hearings and House and Senate votes are being taken on many bills that directly or indirectly affect the interests of nonprofit organizations. See our TANO monthly Summary of Issues Affecting Nonprofit Organizations (as of 4/26/11) for the bills we believe require our tracking and attention. Almost 6,000 bills were filed, and the state\'s budget shortfall has been the primary focus of legislators\' activities. Committees are now facing long agendas of bills to be considered and testimony to be heard; bills that do not move out of committee soon are likely doomed. This is a crucial time to express your group\'s position to elected representatives. To learn more about these, share your own perspectives and insights: TANO PUBLIC POLICY TELECONFERENCE Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 9:30 am to 10:45 am
