EAP and Behavioral Health Professional's Introduction to Screening, Brief Intervention and Treatment for Problem Drinking
April 14, 2011 from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. ET
Workplaces are underutilized for the delivery of alcohol prevention and early intervention programs. Yet, they offer the opportunity to reach people in a place where they spend most of their day. This webinar will provide an introduction to promising, feasible approaches to implementing evidence-based alcohol screening and brief intervention (SBI) methods in work-related settings. The presenters will outline how to ask clients about their drinking habits, enhance internal motivation to change their behavior if identified to be at risk using Motivational Interviewing and cognitive-behavioral strategies. Additional strategies to support clients in creating and reaching behavior change goals and, when appropriate, refer to alcohol treatment professionals, perform case management functions and follow-up post-treatment will also be provided.
