Welcome to the Capital Area Caregiver Teleconnection (CACT): A Focus on Caregiver Support, Education and Training
The Capital Area Caregiver TeleConnection (CACT) is a partnership between the A!rea Agency on Aging of the Capital Area and the WellMed Charitable Foundation (WCF) to create a system of support for caregivers by offering these free telephone learning sessions, as well as telephone support groups. CACT is funded through a grant from the Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Foundation
Caregivers in the 10-county area served by the Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area are invited to signed up for the TeleLearning Session. The counties include Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis, and Williamson. CACT is a part of the first of its kind telephone-based service in the United States, and was implemented in the fall of 2010.
CACT supports caregiv! ers by:
Providing a safe, confidential, telephone session program (telelearning) to empower and connect caregivers
Targeting caregivers who may have difficulty getting out of the house due to caregiver duties
Linking isolated caregivers with each other for support
Building upon and creating a link to existing community supports for caregivers and their loved ones.
