- Austin Area Human Services Association Candidates Forum - The Austin Area Human Services Association is pleased to host this forum for the 2008 slate of City Council candidates. As a member organization that represents more than 70 mission-diverse, nonprofit, social service agencies in the city, this forum intends to cover candidate positions on issues such as aging, basic needs, child care, community relations, disabilities, education, health, housing, homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, public safety, violence. victimization, and workforce development. The citizens of our community care deeply about how their elected officials view and approach the myriad social and basic needs that exist in our city, and this forum is an important opportunity for candidates to educate constituents about their visions and views regarding social services. The event will be Tuesday, April 8, 11:30 at the Mexican American Cultural Center. Lunch will be available by purchase from Do Good Delly. Please RSVP by email to ldodson@mealsonwheelsandmore.org.
- 21st Annual SafePlace Walk—Julia Spann encouraged all to participate in the Walk Your Talk Safeplace Walk at Waterloo Park on April 12. Money raised helps survivors find safety so they can begin healing and supports prevention programs in the community and in schools. For more information, visit http://www.safeplace.org
